Packing Moving Boxes – Quick Tip

I have the fortunate (or unfortunate) luck of being able to plan and pack ahead of time. My move is still 2 or 3 months away which gives me the chance to purge whilst I pack. However, no matter how much time you have to plan it is important to do it in an “as organised as possible” way to allow for easy packing/unpacking and organising on both ends.

Since I turned 18 I think I have moved 14 times. It gives you a lot of experience in what could go wrong and what you can do to lessen the pain of moving.

When I pack I number the boxes and write a list of what is in each box. I used a notebook for my last move and that move was just one floor up. I wrote down the room to which the box must go on the box, and I wrote the next sequential box number on the box. When you pack as far ahead as I am currently doing you don’t necessarily finish packing a room before packing a box from the next room. Therefore all boxes are numbered in the order that they were packed but each box is also labeled with the room to make it easier for the movers to put it in the correct room when they offload.

I have uploaded some free printables which I have linked below to help you in keeping your boxes organised.

Tell me about your last move. Are you currently planning a move?
